About Pathomics Health:
- GEMS@UM laboratory is a collaborative effort between University of Malaya and Pathomics Health Sdn Bhd that provides services for patient care, research, and teaching.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Doctor of Philosophy in a subject relevant to the field of molecular biology / molecular genetics / human genetics
Skills
- Able to read, write and communicate well in English and Malay
- Able to work with Microsoft Office suite of applications
- Willing to learn new technology and able to work independently
- Highly focused and meticulous when performing laboratory work
- Candidate must have experience in molecular work, e.g., real-time PCR, DNA extraction; experience in NGS related work is advantageous
Job Scope
- Administrative work – day-to-day operations (receipt of clinical test requests, payment processing, shipping arrangement, communicating with clinicians and patients as needed)
- Laboratory work – conduct molecular-based procedures on clinical samples with high degree of quality and in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures
- Assists in carrying out clinical testing, documentation, maintenance of equipment and inventory
- Complies with Good Laboratory Practice and Personal Data Protection Act when performing duties dealing with patients’ samples and clinical information
- Participates in clinical research projects and continuing medical education to maintain competency and improve knowledge in related fields

- Responsible for the professional, scientific, consultative, organizational, administrative, and educational services provided.
- Use the consultative services from a SAB-certified pathologist with relevant experience or qualification, or scientist with professional qualification or certification.
- Ensure supervising scientist and pathologist should be appropriately trained, qualified and experienced for the scope and complexity of the testing. Where a pathologist is not available and on-site, access should be made available.
- Communicate to laboratory personnel the importance of meeting the needs and requirements of users as well as regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Define responsibilities, authorities, and interrelationships of all personnel.
- Establish an effective communication process.
- Participation in management reviews.
- Ensure the availability of adequate resources to enable the proper conduct of pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical activities.
- Implement and maintain the quality standards of the services provided.
- Delegate technical responsibility for each discipline within the laboratory but maintain the ultimate responsibility of the laboratory.

- Degree in Medicine or any other higher qualification in any discipline specified: Anatomic Pathology; Chemical Pathology; Cytogenetics; Forensic Pathology; Haematology; Immunology; Medical Microbiology; Transfusion Medicine, or any other discipline acceptable to the Director of Medical Services.
- SAB (Specialist Accreditation Board, Ministry of Health-registered pathologist or a registered medical practitioner with at least 5 years of work experience in a clinical laboratory licensed under the Healthcare Services Act, or another equivalent clinical laboratory outside of Singapore approved by the Director of Medical Services.
